Prayagraj / Lucknow: The Yogi government has made tremendous preparations to ensure the safety of the devotees and control the crowd in Mahakumbh-2025. In this, various forces have been given responsibility, which also includes the mounted police. During the Mahakumbh fair, mounted police personnel will be stationed in the fair area at all times and will keep patrolling.
More than 40 crore devotees and tourists are expected to visit Prayagraj during the Mahakumbh. From January 13 to February 26, a large number of devotees will arrive to take a dip in the Sangam. Especially on the dates of major bathing, crores of devotees will be on the banks of Ganga, Yamuna and Sangam at a time. The police have also made strong preparations and made a comprehensive action plan to deal with any situation.
According to a senior police officer associated with the fair security, training of mounted police personnel has been done in various police lines of the state. This time 180 mounted policemen will be deployed for crowd control in the Mahakumbh. According to the officer, these mounted personnel prove to be more effective than the policemen doing security on foot. Especially, a policeman sitting on a horse is able to keep an eye from a longer distance due to his height. On seeing any suspicious situation, he can reach the designated place to control the situation by sending a message not only to himself but also to other policemen.
The police officer said that the horse mounted police personnel also has a psychological effect on the crowd. He is able to control a large crowd by applying less force. The horses to be deployed in Maha Kumbh have also been named. They have been given names like Maharaja, Chetan, Bahubali. All the trained horse mounted personnel will be taken on a tour of the entire area before the fair begins, so that they get detailed information about the area.
